TrulyHandsfree™ Voice Control Technology From Sensory Now Available on Qualcomm Platform

Mobile World Congress 2015, Barcelona, Spain – March 2, 2015. TrulyHandsfree is First 3rd Party Software on Qualcomm WCD9330.

Sensory Inc., today announced the immediate availability of its award-winning TrulyHandsfree Voice Control 3.0 technology on the first of several planned platforms from Qualcomm. With this announcement, Qualcomm’s broad mobile OEM customer base will have the ability to integrate Sensory’s advanced low-power, highly-accurate voice trigger and voice control solutions into their products. TrulyHandsfree enables products to wakeup and respond when their name is called, with no button pressing or manual manipulation needed for implementing voice control.

“User experience is the most important aspect of any mobile device design,” said Will Strauss, Principal Analyst at Forward Concepts. “Sensory’s TrulyHandsfree allows mobile manufacturers to offer their customers products that feature an extremely intuitive touch-free voice-controlled user interface with minimal resource requirements, and full functionality even when no Internet connection is present. It’s interesting to note that Qualcomm opened up a platform to Sensory that they are not generally opening up to third-party developers. I would see this as a sign that Sensory has something quite special and possibly strategic to Qualcomm’s business.”

Fully integrated with Qualcomm’s next-generation WCD9330 codec framework, TrulyHandsfree is delivered as a library-based port, deeply embedded and optimized for memory and processing cycles. TrulyHandsfree offers several proven features including:

  • Pre-set fixed triggers that work right out of the box
  • User enrolled fixed triggers offer increased accuracy by adapting to user’s voice
  • Ability for users to define their own preferred triggers and passphrases for identification and verification
  • Phrase-spotting that allows users to speak commands naturally to their phone
  • Seamless trigger-to-search capability from headset or mobile device allows users to trigger voice control and say a command without pause
  • Proprietary low power sound detector technology offers market-leading performance with minimal draw on battery

“With our TrulyHandsfree technology’s industry-leading accuracy, even in noisy environments, its broad language support and world-class power consumption, combined with Qualcomm’s vast codec adoption among mobile manufacturers, more mobile OEMs will now be able to integrate their products with an industry-leading hands-free experience,” said Bill Teasley, VP of Engineering at Sensory. “As the pioneer of voice control on Bluetooth chips, we are thrilled to be working with the mobile industry’s leading chip provider and to be the only third-party voice control partner on the WCD9330 platform.”
